Andrea's Antics October 7th

The other day I was listening to a mom describe a conversation she was having with her middle school son. She was sharing some things with him that he really didn't want to hear and instead of waiting for him to react she simply ended her conversation with 3 words..."Go Process That.." Those 3 words have stuck in my brain and served as the inspiration for my antics this week. Read More

Just a couple of weeks ago I had the amazing opportunity to hike the Grand Canyon.  It was my first time out there and for those of you who have witnessed it, you know firsthand that the view is breathtaking and surreal. Loved Chris' description on Facebook as she summed it all up by referring to the excursion as one of those "WOW" days!!  We hiked 5 miles down and 5 miles back up for a total of 8 hours on the trails, and while it was a beautiful feast for our eyes it was also intense, edgy and challenging for our bodies.

I recently came across a simple quote that I felt compelled to share with you all as I’m certain it applies to all of us in some area of our lives…”You cannot always wait for the perfect time, sometimes you must dare to jump.” What area of your life might this apply to??? What the quote instantly brought to my mind was the many conversations I’ve had with several of you over the past month regarding the upcoming yoga teacher training. Read More

I was sitting getting my nails done the other day and Dr. Oz came on…had I been sitting at home working I would have quickly changed the channel as I have really come to struggle with his “miracle diet of the day” sensationalism.  But since I was captive at the nail salon I was forced to listen to his ridiculous babble. That days topic was gluten and the “expert” of the day was claiming that gluten is now implicated in dementia and Alzheimers.  So I decided it was time for me to speak up…

Andrea's Story on "Love the Body You are in"

When I was in high school…my high school gym teacher organized our gym class throughout the year in different segments…so we had a basketball segment…a track segment…a volleyball segment and in there were certain things you had to accomplish in each of these segments in order to get an A in gym class.

Well one of those segments was on weight management…and she used the Metropolitan life insurance tables which is a way of determining how much your life insurance is going to cost based on your weight.  The table said that at 5’ 4” I was SUPPOSE to be 110 pounds and at 5’4” and 118 pounds I was going to have to lose 8 pounds by the end of this 3 month segment in order to get an A in the class.  I had been a gymnast for 12 years at that point and was very muscular…but no one ever mentioned or considered that muscle weighs more than fat.  It’s denser than fat so it looks better and your jeans fit better but my gym teacher and these insurance tables decided it was all about the number on the scale.
