Just a couple of weeks ago I had the amazing opportunity to hike the Grand Canyon. It was my first time out there and for those of you who have witnessed it, you know firsthand that the view is breathtaking and surreal. Loved Chris' description on Facebook as she summed it all up by referring to the excursion as one of those "WOW" days!! We hiked 5 miles down and 5 miles back up for a total of 8 hours on the trails, and while it was a beautiful feast for our eyes it was also intense, edgy and challenging for our bodies.
But in addition to being blown away by the scenery, my personal journey kept bringing me back to my right leg that had been broken 2 years prior. 10 miles of hiking on very steep and uneven terrain and I never experienced an ounce of pain. Every step in the canyon reminded me of how grateful I was for this brilliant surgeon who put me back together ...how grateful I was to have full use of my leg and how grateful I am to be pain free!! I decided then and there that when I got back home I was going to take the time to write him a letter...send him this picture of me and Chris in the Grand Canyon and let him know how grateful I was.
I share this with you all for two reasons. First I know many of you have been on this journey
with me over the past 2 years...feeling my pain...watching me walk down the aisle of my oldest daughter's wedding on blinged crutches...seeing me in yoga practicing on one leg...joining me at my comeback to Zumba class and just supporting me in so many ways!! Just wanted to say to all of you THANK YOU!! ...and to share with you that I am in fact pain free and totally healed. Secondly, I share this experience with you to encourage each of you to express your gratitude to someone today ...to let them know how they have touched your life...how grateful you are for them and to notice what a gift we give ourselves when we take the time to show gratitude.
So as I sit down to write my thank you letter to my surgeon who put me back together physically I appreciate the opportunity to have these Antics to let my Body Language family know that you have been a huge factor in my healing process as well. I am truly grateful for each and every one of you!!
