A couple of months ago, Chris and I had the chance to hear Deepak Chopra speak as key note speaker for a business conference we attended in California. It was a very interesting presentation but the take home message that lodged itself in my brain was the following: Deepak said that 85% of all medications dispensed in United States are for the 5 conditions that are outlined by the acronym PANIC! Pain...Anxiety...Nausea...Insomnia...Constipation!! Read More

I think awhile back I may have shared this simple concept with some of you, but as we approach this holiday season I feel it bares repeating. My dad was a Methodist pastor, and one of his sermons that I will never forget, and have often referred back to, was about how to pull ourselves out of a pity party. Read More

Well, given my last 2 weeks, it would be hard for me to write about anything but the birth of my 3rd grandson, Brayden Tillman Swindle. I was honored to be asked by my oldest daughter, Jamie, to be present at the birth as I had been for my middle daughter Brittany for the birth of both of her sons!! One of the keynote speakers was Jillian Michaels who was a trainer on the reality show "The Biggest Loser". She delivered an awesome message about how we, as fitness professionals, can inspire others to look and feel their best or to try something new that scares them. What really stuck with me from her message was that there are truly just 3 scenarios when any one of us is trying to work through our fears to accomplish something. Read More

Many of you may not realize that Steve Guth was the very first yoga teacher I hired...18 plus years ago. In fact, he taught yoga at BL before I did!! Steve has been with me all these years because: 1) he is just an amazing person who cares so much about each of his students and their individual needs and 2) because he is a very skilled yoga teacher who really specializes in yoga as a therapy for those with physical restrictions and limitations. As I write this antics its been exactly one week since my little sister Lisa's life was taken by a hit and run driver. She was out jogging alongside the Fortress golf course in Frankenmuth early that morning before she went to work when she was hit from behind with such force that it knocked her out of her tennis shoes and killed her on impact. And yet the driver didn't stop... Read More
