Chris and I were recently in San Diego at a business conference primarily attended by other health and wellness businesses, 1400 bodies to be exact...lots of great energy and a blast to be a part of!!!
One of the key note speakers started out her presentation by encouraging us, as health professionals, to consider that wellness is much more than just physical health, exercise or nutrition. She shared a visual (see left) that suggested in order for us to live a balanced and good life we need to look at every one of these areas in our lives, and if we notice that one of these areas seems neglected we need to give it more of our attention.
So at BL we, not unlike other fitness & yoga centers, are committed on a daily basis to our students' Physical Wellness...we have many classes and workshops to help you look and feel your best. We also support your Emotional Wellness through the relaxation provided by yoga & massage. BUT what we would really like to think sets our studio apart from others, is that we also put a lot of emphasis on Social Wellness!! We created the space we call "The Link" to foster connections between both students and students as well as students and staff!! We offer social hours after partner yoga, we host wine weekend get-aways, and we offer an annual holiday Yoga Rocks/Sip n' Shop (Dec 1st) as an opportunity for staff and students to have a chance to come together and celebrate the holidays.
OH BUT I saved the best for last... in an effort to nurture your Social Wellness (and perhaps a bit of my Emotional Wellness), we have rented out the Milford Cinema, 945 E Summit Street, this Thursday, October 26th and will be coming together to watch the Sing along version of Mamma Mia (best movie EVER)!! So grab your friends, or come and make new ones...dress like a Dancing Queen, or come as you are, bring a beverage of your choice...but just SHOW UP!! Remember there are 7 dimensions to your wellness and your Social Wellness is just as important as all the others...”You can dance, You can laugh...Having the time of your life!!” Hope to see you there!!
