I had an epiphany the other night about why there is so much conflicting nutrition information out there. It occurred to me that it could all be summed up in the following statement: ”consider the source.”

Think about it this way... if you need a tooth pulled you go to a dentist.  If you need heart surgery you go to a heart surgeon... if you need rehab after an injury you go to a physical therapist... AND YET... if you need nutrition information you read an article in cosmo, you listen to a talk show host on tv, you take the advice of an M.D., and undoubtedly jump on the band wagon of the latest fad diet!  Here’s what these fad diets have in common: they are sensational, they make "too good to be true" promises, they promote and guarantee rapid weight loss, they eliminate or dramatically limit food groups AND they are NOT created by or backed by Registered Dietitians. And yet, Dietitians are the only ones with an actual degree in the science of nutrition. So if we simply narrow our focus and listen to the advice of R.D’s the message Is consistent and actually backed by a degree and science!!

So, this brings me to my mission of being your source of nutrition information. Information that is sound and will help you manage your weight without sabotaging your health.

Here’s my 3 part plan. 1) This Sunday, March 18 at 4 pm I am offering a seminar entitled De-bunking Nutrition Myths. I have compiled a list of the most common questions I have been asked over the years and will address each of these based on the science of nutrition 2) I am starting a new series of short videos which you can find on our Facebook page every Sunday. I am calling these short tidbits of nutrition advice, Nutrition Nibbles.  They will cover a different subject every Sunday and 3) April’s Body’s Blast board will be an interactive question and answer experience that will allow you to ask your nutrition question and I will provide the answers.

So instead of blindly following the latest fad diet, educate yourself!!
Listen, learn and be empowered. It’s time to look and feel your personal best..but always “consider the source!”
Hope to see you Sunday!!!
