Owner of BL keels over in P90x Class!!!

Just kidding…but almost!!
As those of you who are Facebook friends with me already know, I’ve had a busy last couple of weeks. I spent a long weekend with some girlfriends up north, then drove straight to Chicago for a retail conference, was home one night to pack and unpack, and then headed the next day to Idaho for a family wedding!!   Phew!!

During the course of those 2 weeks I got a couple of hikes in here and there, but very scattered and nothing at all rigorous.   So choosing to jump back in with both feet last Wednesday morning to take P90x might not have been the best idea…but I did!!  Granted there was a time change from Idaho so I was dealing with a bit of jet lag... and a short nights sleep as we were used to a different time zone… oh and Im even going to suggest a bit of altitude adjustment from being up in the mountains.  So back to P90x…part way through it, I am convinced Brian has amped up his game since Ive been gone, and it is assuredly the hardest p90x ever.  But then when I started feeling dizzy and nauseous, I knew it was due to all of the above factors and I needed to take a break, get some water and drop down in weights.  The visual of the owner of BL, keeling over in class was also a motivation to back off!!

The experience served as a reminder to me to practice what I preach and to remind you all to do so as well. Whether it's on our yoga mat, or in a fitness class or just navigating through life, every day is different. And if we insist on looking around us in an attempt to keep up instead of looking inside of us to notice what actually is up, we may push ourselves to a place we don’t belong.

So, empower yourself by slowing down to listen to yourself instead of giving your power away to others. Maybe this translates into your workouts…being willing to adjust your weights in class based on how you’re feeling that day or the nights sleep you got the night before.  Maybe it's backing out of a challenging yoga posture to take a break in childs pose because you’ve been running hard and are just more tired than normal.  Maybe this message applies to what you’re putting in your mouth…not giving your power away to the media or the friend who rapidly dropped a bunch of weight on the latest fad diet but slowing down to listen to yourself. Actually tapping into the knowledge within all of us to know when we’re hungry and when we’re full.

However it applies to your life, thanks for letting me share my experience and let this be a reminder to all of us to simply…Slow down & Listen!!   You’ve got this!!
