The other day a friend stopped by to drop a meal off for my husband Dave (everyone seems to be worried he is going to starve as he recovers from his thumb surgery...Ha!!).
But since we hadn’t seen each other since the beginning of covid, we spent a few minutes describing the past 10 months for each of us. In her words...”everyone and everything has just been shaken up...and now we are all just trying to figure out where we have landed and how to put the pieces back together again.” I thought a lot about these words in reference to all of life but especially how it pertains to Body Language. BL has definitely been shook up. But as we have started to put the pieces back together again we are looking at this as a reconfiguration. Or another way to picture this new business model is that BL is just re-inventing itself. We have some new teachers, we are offering some different types of classes, lengths of classes have changed to allow for more cleaning, class times have changed to accommodate different schedules, class sizes are limited for now and conceivably indefinitely giving students more space. Oh and then as a result of this shake up, we have added a whole new layer of BL with our virtual options. The live streamed zoom classes and the extensive class library offers a whole additional layer of value to students’ memberships. Students have the option to supplement in studio classes with these options or to purchase a stand alone virtual membership for those not ready for in studio or if wanting to access from out of town. Yep, you can now take the new and improved BL with you wherever you go!!
That being said we are listening...and we are trying to keep as many of you happy as possible. But when I hear that someone is looking to get a certain class or time back, my suggestion would be to shake it up. Maybe try a new class or different time of day. Perhaps check out the class library and try a class you’ve been intimidated to try in studio.
Many of you have been asking about my daughter Briana. Well, I got a phone call from her the other day that with 2 hours of notice they were bumping her from one covid hot spot in Texas to the next. And although she had been working 16-19 hours a day, it had become familiar and she was nervous about moving to a new location. The next day I get a phone call from her saying that this new gig is way less intense. Way fewer nurses to manage and she was even able to take a much needed day off. It was a reminder to me, and maybe to all of us, that being shook up can be a good thing. Just because we are comfortable and things around us are familiar doesn’t mean that they are better than what’s ahead of us.
I am confident that the new shaken up and reconfigured BL will land stronger than ever. And that students will feel good about where we have landed and what we can offer each of you in this new space!!
Thank you for being an important part of this shake up and we look forward to continuing to provide you a great space to come together and stay healthy.
Andrea
