avb and landon

So as many of you know - I have 3 daughters.  I love being the mom of girls and up until 8 years ago, when my first grandson was born, it’s all I’ve known!!   So when I found myself being karate chopped and wrestled with, I quickly realized that, although it was a foreign to me, it was a display of affection nonetheless!

Which brings us to last night…

It was a family night.   We had a wonderful evening boating for a treasure hunt around the lake, followed by a yummy dinner and then, you’ve got it, wrestling in the back yard.   Had a blast…lots of fun and shenanigans until an unexpected pounce resulted in one of my feet being stuck underneath me in an unnatural position.  Well if you saw me hobbling through BL this am, you already know my foot was not happy about that!

Which brings me to this morning…

I took Herbs yoga class!!  It was an awesome class.  I love yoga.  Well, once I get there.  I find that I will always choose fitness though.  It’s what I crave and seek out 9 times out of 10.  My whole life i have worked out in some way nearly every day.   But I NEED yoga.   When I choose yoga (or this morning, when yoga chooses me), I leave feeling like a new person.  My body feels more balanced, my brain is less agitated and I’m definitely more relaxed.   And I find that I do better at responding to what the day happens to toss my way.

So i’m sharing this with you because I know I'm not alone. I know many of you, day after day, choose fitness over yoga.   My suggestion to you, if that is in fact the case, is to treat yoga like you would taking medicine or your daily vitamin.   Just a much needed necessity!!  In fact, if you really want a much broader glimpse of how yoga can better every area of your life, why not jump in with both feet (or in my case one) and join our yoga teacher training program???  It kicks off a week from today and there is always 1 or 2 students out there who are waiting until last minute and just need a nudge.    I’m hoping that this could be just that.  I am being nudged and passing it along to you.

I found yoga because I needed it.  I continue to practice yoga because I need it…brain, body and soul!   And this week for sure, I’m being sent a strong reminder to slow down and get back to my mat.   Hope you will join me on the “dark side” for at least one yoga class this week.   And if you are at all considering yoga teacher training just as a means to deepen your practice, find me!!

I would be happy to chat with you and answer any questions you might have.  (Although I may have a bag of ice on my foot while doing so.).

Oh and in case you’re wondering, until my grandson out weighs me, I will continue to wrestle with him!!  Ok maybe then we will opt for a game of chess or a yoga class alongside his KayKay!!   (That’s my grandma name!!)

Hope to see you on your mat!!
