I don’t know about you but I have heard the word “anxiety” more in the last couple of years than I ever have before.   The business conference Chris and I just got back from shared a few statistics with us to substantiate this unfortunate trend.  MINDBODY reported that 50 % of individuals report that Covid has continued to impact their mental well being.   45 % report being more stressed out and 42 % say they have gained weight.

So first of all, we want you to know that if you fall into one or all of these categories you are NOT alone!!  Secondly, we want you to know that Body Language is here for you and we want to be part of your solution.   Anxiety, depression and weight gain can often even go hand in hand.  As a Registered Dietitian, I see a lot of individuals really struggling with weight due to emotional eating.  We get stressed out and we eat thinking it will calm us down. We are sad and we eat to comfort us.  We feel like life’s out of control and we grab a crunchy bag of potato chips because it makes us feel more in control.

So here’s Body Language’s 2 part solution to begin to equip you with tools to manage the emotional eating as well as the anxiety and depression:

Mark your calendars for Wednesday, November 2nd from 7-8 pm.   I will be offering a FREE nutrition workshop called Beating the Holiday Bulge.  It will address ways to manage the stress of the holidays and just stress in general that often leads to emotional eating and weight gain.

And then here’s Ronda to tell you herself about her workshop coming up next Sunday, October 16th…

“Following a yoga class, many of my students have said to me , "that was better than a therapy session!"  I love when that happens because it tells me that the student was fully engaged and doing what they needed to do to reap the most benefit from their practice.   I believe it's incredibly empowering to know that you can intentionally create the mind/heart state you desire, if you know why and how yoga calms anxious moods and energizes depressed moods.  It's  a joy to share these techniques with the Body Language community in our upcoming Yoga for Anxiety and Depression workshop.”

Now’s the time to get out of that negative spiral of anxiety, depression and weight gain.  Encouraging you to set aside a few hours…attend these workshops…and invest in a happier, healthier YOU!!
