So I took a week off to wish everyone Happy Mother’s day but now we are back to highlighting 2 staff every Sunday.
This week we highlight Ricky & Herb…
A little trivia about Ricky.. is that she has been going to Body Language longer than I have!! Since 1985 to be exact. When BL was on M-59 and owned by the previous owner (yep I’m actually the 3rd owner of BL), Ricky was a member. I met her there long before I even taught aerobics for BL. When I bought BL, Ricky started out as a member, then became a desk manager, and around her 50th birthday she went through my yoga teacher training program and started teaching yoga!! Ricky was actually a graduate of BL’s very first yoga teacher training program. Since then Ricky has taken on so many roles to support BL but the one she is the most famous for is the chalkboard calendar in the Link. It’s always a treat to see what creative things she comes up with and witness her artistic creativity. Some things you may not know about Ricky is that she has 2 looms set up in her house and she makes one of a kind chenille scarves and blankets that she sell at our annual Sip & Shop event (which she also runs). Lastly, Ricky has a bird that talks named Ricoh and just a year ago became a grandma for the first time. Ricky thank you for being a Rock Star and for all the ways you support our BL community!!
Herb…wow this is a great story. Back in 2002, my daughter Brittany was working at the Starbucks on Orchard Lake road. I would go there to get my paperwork done or read while spending a little time with Britt on her breaks. (Thus my current Starbucks addiction.) One day, Herb was sitting outside and saw me reading a book about yoga and simply asked…”so what is yoga?” Well, of course the rest is history. I told him to come experience for himself and not only did he start practicing yoga, he signed up for the teacher training in 2005. Oh wait there’s more…he actually has Body Language Yoga tattooed on his arm in Sanskrit (the original language of yoga). Needless to say he’s a lifer!! You can still find him every Sunday morning at 830 am teaching Better Backs and he helps out with a lot of maintenance around BL. But other things you may not know about Herb…he has traveled to India multiple times, he has run 11 full and several ½ marathons, AND he served in the Army as a tank mechanic and did 3 tours in Vietnam. Herb, thank you for your service and for being such an incredible asset to our BL team.
