Wow…it’s been quite a week at Body Language!! Sunday night we had our bi-annual Staff meeting, Tuesday was our monthly manager meeting, and Wednesday I survived a 4-hour photo shoot!! I know the word “survived” sounds pretty dramatic, but if you were at BL during this event, you would be painfully aware that these photo shoots are hugely out of my comfort zone. YES…we need them for our marketing material and YES… Chris talks me into doing them about every 18 months, but I’m pretty much kicking and screaming every inch along the way. Chris hires the photographer, reaches out to staff and students to be the bodies, schedules the itinerary, and keeps us all moving the day of the shoot. She points fingers and says you do this, and you do that and believe it or not everyone (including me) listens. Ray is the visionary. She has a picture in her mind of composition, color palette, body position and works with the photographer until “we get the shot” she is looking for. At one point when I was sitting awkwardly in a chair, she physically pushed and nudged my body into the chair while saying …” c’mon Andrea, just be one with the chair.” Honestly at the end of this day, I could only describe her as BRILLIANT. I was so incredibly impressed by both of these women Wednesday and so grateful that they have these skills that are definitely not in my wheelhouse.
We have heard it said many times that there is no “I” in TEAM and that’s exactly what I was thinking during this photo shoot. It reminded me of the incredible TEAM BL that I am so grateful to be surrounded by. Last Sunday at our staff meeting, I shared with our staff that the word TEAM is defined as “a cohesive group of individuals with skills that are both specific and complementary.” This amazing staff is why BL has been in existence for 26 years. It’s why we were able to recover after Covid and it’s why we continue to grow and thrive. THANK you, Chris, and Ray…YOU are a powerful TEAM!! THANK you, TEAM BL,…WE are a powerful TEAM. And THANK you to our students who come together each and every day and give us the power to lead. Every one of you brings something different to the table which is specific to YOU and your personality and skill sets but complementary to our community as a whole. BEYOND GRATEFUL!!
