If you read my antics on Wednesday, I gave you a brief overview of the workshops BL is offering in the month of October. Well, today I want to highlight two of them because I feel like the information shared in both workshops could be of great value to many of our BL peeps!! Two things they both have in common is that I have personally attended each of them and they are both being offered by one of our yoga teachers, Ronda. In addition to being one of the favorite yoga teachers here at BL, Ronda is a licensed clinical psychologist, so she is able to blend her training in yoga with her expertise in psychology.
The first workshop she is offering is a powerful and dynamic system of personality typing called The Enneagram. I am absolutely fascinated by this subject and have spent much time studying it. It describes 9 distinct styles of thinking, feeling, and behaving in the world. This system helps us to dive beneath superficial behaviors to comprehend our core motivations and fears. As we get to know our Enneagram type, we grow in self-awareness and self-understanding. I have done sessions on the Enneagram with both friends and family and one of the parts that I find interesting is that it really helps us to understand and better appreciate one another’s differences. It even allows us to approach those different ways of navigating through life with perhaps a bit more compassion. In 2 hours’ time, Ronda will describe all 9 personality types and each attendee will get a chance to figure out which number they most resonate with. Again…I find this information so valuable and encourage you to attend. Well worth a 2-hour investment of your time on a Sunday afternoon.
October 8th 3:00 - 5:00 pm $25
The second workshop Ronda is offering in October is: Yoga for Anxiety and Depression. Different from the Enneagram workshop (which is an interactive lecture), this workshop also includes a practice. During the practice Ronda will guide students through a simple flow that will allow each student to experience for themselves how certain yoga postures can help calm an anxious mood as well as to energize a depressed mood. Ronda also teaches students about how breath can be an effective tool in finding more peace and to experience a more joyful way of being fully present in our lives. She also explores the impact of trauma on the emotional body and how trauma sensitive yoga helps with the healing process. I don’t know about you, but I have never heard the word anxiety used so much in my life. Mental illness is rampant. This could be a great workshop to invite a family, a friend or neighbor to who might be suffering with anxiety and/or depression. Perhaps we could look at it as a way to make this world a little brighter by being part of the solution to other’s struggles.
October 15th 12:30 - 3:00 pm $30
So there you go…two back to back Sundays…two great workshops…two wonderful opportunities to learn something new about yourself and how you can help and better understand others!!
Hope to see you there!!
