Happy New Year from our BL family to yours!! We are excited to move into this New Year by your side to help you realize your 2024 goals. I actually like to think of them as intentions instead of goals. For example, instead of saying I would like to lose 10 pounds by February 1st, I would encourage you to say, I’m going to take 4 classes next week. Then go to your app and pick out a variety of fitness & yoga classes at least every other day. To be successful at weight management you want to avoid taking more than one day off between workouts. So a great intention would be to sign up for 4-5 classes per week. You see your metabolism stays elevated for 48 hours after you work out so your energy levels stay high and you’re burning more calories during that time. Once you skip a couple of days you will start to notice a drop in your energy….yep fewer calories are being burnt but also we tend to reach for those sugary snacks to boost our energy levels back up.

In addition to trying to work out at least every other day, you want to mix it up. Your body needs diversity!! You will work different muscles in different ways and see better results. So mix in some cardio to burn fat, some strength training to increase muscle mass, and some yoga to restore range of motion and relax. I am often heard saying to those who only want to do fitness; perhaps look at taking a yoga class like taking medicine. It’s no different than taking your multivitamin. Your body and brain will thank you!! And those of you who are frightened by the brighter room and mirrors in the fitness room…it’s time to cross over!! By working your muscles in different ways you will undoubtedly tone up those flabby spots and start to lose any unwanted pounds!!

So bottom line is instead of setting unrealistic goals and feeling defeated…set weekly or daily intentions that are conceivable. Practice a little behavior modification. Then every day you can go to bed knowing that you are taking action to move in a positive direction. Of course, this applies to the food choices you’re making too, but I’ll save that for another antics.

Let’s start today…go onto your app…sign up for at least 4-5 classes next week…schedule yourself so that you’re not taking more than one day off between workouts…mix it up…and choose ONE class that you’ve never tried before.

If you want your body to change, you’ve got to change things up. We have over 60 classes per week, so lots of opportunities to shake it up!!!

Happy New Year to all!!

New Year, New YOU!!
