I wanted to take a few moments to tell you about the food items we sell at Body Language and why. If you happened to attend my nutrition seminar last fall on the Gut Brain Connection, you already know that fiber is essentially the food for the Pro-biotics or good bacteria in our gut. When our good bacteria have food (pre-biotics) our good microbiome flourishes.  Having more good bacteria in our gut translates as heightened immunity, less anxiety, less inflammation, and overall better health!! So, foods that are high in fiber are the best way to feed our good bacteria. Eating a diet that is highly plant based is the key. Fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds, and whole grains. The products we offer at Body Language all fall into this category. I like to refer to them as "Andrea edible," but all that really means is they are Andrea approved and support our students’ health and wellness.  First of all, we offer a variety of products from Great Harvest. Every Saturday we have fresh loaves of Great Harvest bread at the front desk. The breads we offer at Body Language are all whole grain and made from fresh ground flour daily. Not only does this make the bread taste better it gives it a longer shelf life without having to add any preservatives. I love this bread and I will always choose it over store bought bread. It is super yummy and so good for you. The other item that I absolutely love are our Trek Bars. They are energy rich, loaded with healthy ingredients and are so delicious. I almost always have them in my purse as an in-between meal snack, or if I’m on the go, as a meal replacement. In addition, we offer two different types of granola. One variety is from Great Harvest and it is perfect for breakfast or a between meal snack. It is made of oats, cashews, almonds, and dried fruit.  It is lightly sweetened with just a smidge of honey and molasses held together by 1 T of canola oil. So it’s low in sugar and fat. Our second brand we carry is Witzi’s granola. This product is not your typical oat-based granola but, instead is chock full of nuts, more like a trail mix. Witzi’s is free from gluten, grain, dairy, corn, and soy which appeals to many of you out there. I LOVE this granola sprinkled on my Raisin Bran or yogurt for breakfast as it adds good fats and protein to my good carbs as well as some crunch and sweetness.

So there you go…healthy options for you to grab as you walk out of Body Language…all Andrea approved…all good for your gut, your health, and your waistline!! Enjoy!!

P. S. Oh, and once you walk out the door of BL…turn right and head into Cooper’s Dish for several Andrea edible meal options. They have a variety of salads, soups and packaged meals to choose from. They also put out a weekly menu a week in advance that you can have food delivered to your home.  Be sure to ask for the entrees with brown rice, whole wheat pasta and whole grain wraps.  They have so many healthy and yummy choices.
