Better Backs Against the Wall

This class is taught by:

Victoria Steffanuski

Hello!  I'm Victoria, so nice to meet you all.  I first found yoga in 2014 when I was seeking a relaxing outlet for myself.  I practiced on and off until 2020 when COVID hit and, again seeking an escape, I signed up for the teacher training program at Body Language.  I've been devoted to both teaching and my practice ever since.  I am married with 3 kids, 4 bonus kids and 3 bonus grandkids (and counting!) When I'm not teaching or behind the desk at Body Language you can find me with family,
reading, gardening, baking, kayaking or paddle boaring, traveling and adventuring as much as I can.

Claudia Sommerville

Hello! I’m Claudia! My yoga journey began about 6 years ago. I
started yoga to find a new outlet for my mind and body after I was no
longer playing basketball competitively. After a couple yoga classes at Body Language I fell in love with the physical and mental benefits of yoga. My yoga mat quickly became one of my favorite places to be. I completed my yoga teacher training with Andrea at Body Language in the Spring of 2021. The training has deepened my practice and I’m excited to share what I have learned with all of you on your mats. In my free time you can find me hiking, playing basketball, doing yoga and spending time with my family and husband on the lake. I hope to see you in class soon! “

Kim H. Hakala

I took my first barre class at Body Language in 2017 and absolutely loved it. I trained and became a certified barre instructor shortly thereafter and am thrilled to be teaching the “Simply Barre” class on Fridays.
Hope to see you all there!

Heather Jones

I love yoga. I love making it real and accessible for everybody, and try to do so in my most authentic voice. Which means an occasional f-bomb, mixing up my right and left feet, some questionable playlist choices, and some shared tears when I’m feeling most vulnerable. I am a fierce advocate for body image positivity, health at every size, and I love nurturing my students with a down-to-earth class: exploring breath, awareness, movement and self-compassion. I love the smell of lavender, and if you come to class, I might offer you a drop for a blissed-out savasana. I like working with students from all walks of life, especially those who otherwise have felt unsure, unseen or shut out in previous yoga and movement experiences, because I was that yogi! I am also very passionate about working with yoga teachers on how to make classes accessible, and through my teacher training offerings, I encourage the teaching community to truly consider what it means to offer “yoga for EVERY body.””

This 55 minute Better Backs class uses the wall as a prop to open up the body as well as to help stabilize.
