Massages rock!!  They really do!  Not only do they just feel good, they are SO good for you!  I have a nutrition seminar coming up on November 2nd called Mood, Mind & Appetite, and part of the seminar focuses on ways we can change our brain chemistry to be calmer.  When we are calmer we have more impulse control over our compulsive overeating and other addictive behaviors.  Well, one of the ways you can do just that is through massage.  Massage increases the level of serotonin in our brains which calms our nervous system and gives us space to make better decisions about what goes into our mouths.

I LOVE massages…every time I’m laying on the massage table my first thought is this a little slice of heaven, and my second thought is, why don’t I do this more often.  I once heard Bob Hope interviewed and when asked about what he thought kept his body fit and his brain sharp, he said his DAILY massage.  Yep every day of his life he got a massage!!  Have never forgotten that part of his interview!    Ok so that may not fit in your budget or in your busy lifestyles but for sure you could find time once a month to treat your body and your brain to an hour of massage!!   I wanted to share that in addition to our October massage special, Body Language offers a Massage of the Month program.  You sign up to get a massage every month at a reduced price ($65/hour & $95/1.5 hour) with Sarah, Gabriella or Jill !!   What a great thing to look forward to every month.

Most of you likely know, as you’re walking into BL there is a wall to your left, just past the kids room called our Body’s Blast Board.   Hard to miss!!! We use it to engage you guys or challenge you to stay on track or sometimes to just promote awareness.   Bottom line is that it brings us all together and focused on one thing that connects us for each month.  So this month our board is called WEAR IT TO WIN IT!!   We know that many of you, like many of us, consider BL your second home.  You look forward to coming not only to sweat, stretch and tone, but to see your friends and hang out before or after class.   I totally get it and when people thank me for creating BL, my response is that I can’t imagine my own life without this awesome community of staff and students we call Body Language!! And I’m so grateful that so many others have found so much solace and have cultivated so many friendships in these walls as well!!!  Read More

Hopefully you had a chance to watch my most recent Nutrition Nibbles that showed up on FB last Sunday…it was shot out on a hike in California…Big Sur to be exact and the message was simply this…

The reason Chris and I were out in California was for a BOLD Conference, put on by Mindbody, which is the software company that we use to operate BL.  The conference had many take homes that we will be implementing to make each student’s experience at BL even better.   But one of my personal take homes was offered by the motivational speaker, Rachel Hollis, who wrapped up the conference as its key note speaker.  Those simple 5 words…BE WHERE YOUR FEET ARE!! Read More
